Lia Loves Elin!

Erin stopped by Lanikai today with her adorable baby Elin.

Elin is growing fast, like all babies do -- and Lia couldn't believe how much she weighed when she held her for this picture.

We are so lucky to have the Lanikai Bath and Body family, with soap fairies and baby soap fairies, too!

Thank You Audrey Dao!

From her blog "Confessions of a Beautyholic"
Mmm…the Lanikai Bath and Body Mango Coconut Body Butter smells oh so yummy! I’m usually not a fan of products with fragrances, but the Lanikai Bath and Body Mango Coconut Body Butter smells sweet like mangoes and isn’t strong at all. Every time I use it, it reminds me and takes me back to the great days of summer. Besides the delicious fragrance, the body butter is great for winter use or when your skin is need of hydration. The cream isn’t too thick and quickly absorbs into your skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. The Lanikai Bath and Body Mango Coconut Body Butter leaves your skin feeling moisturized, hydrated, and so soft all day.

Lanikai Bath and Body can found online or at their store located in Kailua, Hawaii.

We appreciate Ms. Dao's comments, and you will love our Mango Coco Body Butter! (and the other products in our Mango Coco line.

Puakenikeni

Our Puakenikeni lotion mist is a favorite now that summer is heating up and things are getting a bit muggy. Lately, the promised tradewinds seem to be not as promised, and so Lanikai Bath and Body's Puakenikeni lotion spray mist with Jojoba oil is perfect for a light kiss of delicious scent on arms or legs.

The Puakenkeni Lei in this picture was made by Soap Fairy Laurel and her BF Steven.
These beautiful white flowers will turning a stunning color-of-the-dawn and the scent is heady and mesmerizing.

A Girl's Gotta Spa... Thanks for the Great Review!

Ahh Hawaii. It’s one place I have always wanted to go, but have yet been able to afford to. My dad used to live there and would often send me pictures…you could just smell the ocean air and lushness of the flowers through the vivid imagery.

Lanikai, a bath and body company in Hawaii, has some amazing skin care products that transport my senses as if I were right there myself.

...Lanikai Bath & Body’s exfoliating scrub, body wash and body butter in Tahitian Gardenia. A completely intoxicating fragrance. It not only smells like a Tahitian Gardenia, but it seems to smell of papaya and pineapple too. I feel like breaking out my grass skirt, lei and poi balls.

...I love the Exfoliating Scrub, which is a sea salt scrub with kukui and macadamia, organic aloe and awapuhi in it. It gently smooths your skin. Sometimes, just from the oils alone, I don’t feel the need to moisturize after. The Body Wash is moisturizing with white tea, chamomile, sunflower and kukui oils. The consistency is very thin, almost water-like, but it’s very fragrant.

The Body Butter is comprised of shea and cocoa butter, as well as coconut and avocado oil (avocados are quickly becoming a trend in beauty products this year!) It is rich and thick, but glides smoothly on your skin. It makes you smell amazing, while your skin looks equally healthy and moisturized.
This is a great little known bath and body company. Discover them for yourself! www.lanikaibathandbody.com.

(Sidebar: When I was younger I took Hawaiian dance classes at Judi T. dance studio in West Warwick, RI. We used to do shows as Kukiki and the Coconuts on the Bay Queen (a boat cruise on the Narragansett Bay.)

Thank You, New Age Momma

We want to thank New Age Momma for her very kind review about Lanikai Bath and Body products:

I am always on the look out for fantastic all natural beauty products to try out, and I found some that I really love at Lanikai Bath & Body. I received a variety of their products to try, and my whole family is in love with them.

Lanikai Likes to Help Japan!

Especially when there is something in it for us. As part of all the fundraising that has been going on, Amy Hanaiali`i and Henry Kapono got together a number of well know Hawai`i artists and recorded "Together Hawai`i".

You can go online here and buy the MP3 or the music video (or both) and all proceeds from the sale will go to help Japan.

It is a great song and just one more demonstration of how Hawai`i loves Japan. Pictured here is Henry Kapono.

Definitely definitely go on and buy "Together Hawai`i"

Lanikai Bath and Body thanks you!

Blast From the Past

Forty years ago, when I came to the islands, Monoi Oil was everybody's idea of a suntan lotion. Amazing scent, no spf, soothing and shiny, good for your skin.

These days, Hawai`i girls, like Tahitian girls, put Monoi Oil in their hair and use it in the shower.

We are glad to have it back in the store -- and we should let you know that it may congeal at temperatures below 70 degrees ---
and and you can restore it by warming it up.
Buy it at www.lanikaibathandbody.com. You'll love it!

Time to Hit the Beach

It's almost summer --- so it's time to hit the beach. After a long sunny day, light one of our tropical palm wax candles and relax in a cool bath.

Shells and sand form the frames and mirrors that are made by our friend Jennifer Schneider. A perfect summer hostess gift!

Lovely lotions to soothe your skin -- plumeria, pineapple coconut, coconut lime verbena (naupaka), pikake and many others --- online and in store at Lanikai Bath and Body.

Beautiful Roses

These roses met me on mother's day when I came downstairs. Attached was an incredible balloon with butterflies and hearts popping off the big main heart that said "Happy Mother's Day". There was also a wonderful card, and my mother's fresh water pearl earrings which Ian had the backs fixed so I can wear them again.

I had to share them! His brother, Eric, with his children Lily and Jack, also stopped by with cards and flowers. A great Mother's Day!

Everyday is Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to Brenda, mother of Derrick Rose, and mothers everywhere.

Derrick, this season's Most Valuable Player, plays for the Chicago Bulls.

At the start of every match he goes to the end of the court, looks up to where his mother sits and blows her a kiss. She is his best friend.

Happy Mother's Day from Lanikai Bath and Body!

Oldest and Youngest Grandchildren

Happy Mother's Day!

A Windy Rainy Mother's Day Weekend

We are finally having some winter weather here in Hawai`i, and it arrived just in time for Mother's Day.

A great day for house cleaning, doing laundry and making breakfast for yourself.

Alternately, a great day for grabbing a Lanikai Bath and Body bodywash (your choice)
and sinking in to a tub.

While you are in the tub, two great books come to mind: The Paris Wife, written in the voice of Hemingway's first wife Hadley OR A Singular Woman by Janny Scott about
Ann Dunham, the brilliant mother of our President. Her genes are responsible for his chin, his ears, his smile and his eyes and the fact that he is hapa haole, not black, as we say here in Hawai`i.

Lavender Blue Dilly Dilly ...

If you are old enough to remember that song, Lanikai Bath and Body was made for you.

Our Hawaiian Lavender is a favorite with many; and with a candle to "go with" you are set for a home spa experience like no other.

Infused with essential lavender oil, and Hawaiian healing oils like Kukui and Noni, Hawaiian Lavender is just the thing if you need to relax.

A Rose is a Rose is a Kamuela Rose

Roses grow aplenty on the island of Hawai`i in the green and lush area of Waimea, also known as Kamuela.

Lanikai's Kamuela Rose collection is a perfect replication of the roses we all love, and often give our Mothers on Mother's Day.

This year, it's not too late to send Kamuela Rose belatedly to your Mom -- we're sure she loves roses year around.

Almost like Fresh Pineapple

Lanikai Bath and Body's Sweet Pineapple Soap has a scent so wonderful, you'll want to take a bite!

We recommend against it; instead jump in your bath or shower and enjoy a moment of pure Hawai`i.

What?! Mother's Day is this Sunday?!

Baby Elin just found out that mother's day is this Sunday. Since it is her first time out, she was initially unfamiliar with the concept. After all, the focus at her house has been on her.

Being born as she was in the digital age, she has quickly learned how to take a picture of herself and inscribe it Happy Mommy's Day.

If you forgot Mother's Day is this Sunday May 8, you can take your Mom into cyberspace to www.lanikaibathandbody.com and let her pick her own Mother's Day gift. Act like you were thinking of it all along.
