Amazing Peace: Maya Angelou's Poem

Beginning on November 1, for all orders over $100 (not including shipping charges), we will include a copy of Maya Angelou's Amazing Peace: A Christmas Poem as our gift to you.

This poem was introduced on Oprah Winfrey's show just about a year ago, with dramatic staging and Oprah and Dr. Angelou reading the poem together.

It is a magnificent poem that talks about what we all pray for: Peace.

The photo shown here is from a blog that talks about the poem, and the picture is of snow in Bethlehem.

Holidays Just Around the Corner

It's hard to believe, but the holidays are just around the corner. It's not too early to start thinking about what you are going to give your friends and family for the holidays.

Here's a hint: Lanikai Bath and Body! We have products for women, products for men, products for teens, and products for toddlers. We have lotions, soaps, washes, shampoos, salts and scrubs. We have sponges, toners, candles, home sprays and scents. We have kitchen soap, scents and hand sanitizers.

We have lively little puffs that look like animals, we have big bath toys that have baby bath toys inside them (kind of like those Russian stackable dolls).

We have cool bags to shop with, we have bags to hold wet stuff like swimsuits.

We have little dog soaps, little monkey soaps, little pig soaps. We have neckerchiefs for dogs. We have Lanikai Poi Dog Shampoo. Do come shop with us now, or for the holidays, or any time. Our store is at 600 Kailua Road in the cool town of Kailua, and online we're at www.lanikaibathandbody.com.

Ann Likes Lavender

We have the great pleasure of working for Ann Kobayashi for Mayor, and have come to know her as a solid, smart, sensible and easy going person. We would strongly recommend that you vote for her, if you haven't voted already because she would be an excellent mayor, and she would tell us the truth.

Transparency in government. It would be real if Ann were Mayor; we would know what was going on and who was being paid how much and for what. She has plenty of energy and puts up with the most amazing amount of advice givenso so much of it unsolicited.

We brought some Lanikai Bath and Body products to the office and Ann wanted Lavender. It was a good choice. Our Hawaiian Lavender is full of wonderful Hawaiian healing goodies including macadama and aloe oil. The lavender essential oil itself comes from Provence,

Our Lavender is a winner and so is Ann!

Shane Spins Like A Politician

Okay -- so now the Phillies have one and the Rays have one and they are on their
way back to Philadelphia for a game tomorrow.

Yesterday's game at Tampa Bay wasn't exactly a debacle for the Phillies but it sure wasn't as close as the 4-2 score that ended it at the top of the ninth indicated.

Nonetheless, Shane managed to throw a positive spin on it in this morning's New York Times, even alluding to two guys who were out at home -- saying that if they had scored, the Phillies might have won. Shane said the Phillie's goal was to split the Tampa games 1-1 and they accomplised that. See what I mean about the politician-like spin?

So the only connection here to Lanikai Bath and Body here is that Shane is from
Maui and so are our products, and everyone who slid into the bases yesterday could use our Hawaiian Healing Salve. It's awesome!

World Series Starts Tomorrow

Why is this important to Lanikai Bath and Body? Because our product is hand made in Maui, and one of the real stars of the Phillies is made-in-Maui boy Shane Victorino.

Shane was instrumental to the Phillies win of the National League Championship Series. The Phillies will go up against the Tampa Bay Rays, a team that was at the bottom, circling the drain.

So -- good luck to our boy Shane Victorino from everyone at Lanikai Bath and Body.

Jelly Bath is Back

We just got in a big supply of Jelly Bath -- the popular bath product that turns your bath into -- jelly. more or less. People really love this stuff!

It is a polymer, like the little white balls that absorb water in your plants. When you put it in the tub, or a pedicure bath, it plumps up (to say the least) and becomes a very comfy thick relief. It keeps bath water warm for up to five times compared to plain bath water and it is very relaxing.

When you get out of the tub, you simply pour salt on it and it disappears down the drain. Jelly Bath comes in wonderful "flavors" including lavender and mint. It's a great Christmas gift and stocking stuffer.

BTW Linda, Barack Was Brought Up Here

Our Governor is busy currying favor on the mainland with the republican party, and she seems to have lost her memory.

Linda: this is for you: Barack Obama is from Hawaii. He grew up here. He never called you because he was not living here when you were.

Okay, now that we have that settled. Election Day is around the corner. Please remember to vote!

P.S. You've seen it before, but here it is again. Barack in 5th grade. In Hawaii.
He grew up here.

A Trade Windy Day

After lots of October humidity, there is a cool breeze blowing today. The skies are grey, but out the window you can see beautiful palm trees rustle and hear the sound -- like the shaking of a giant petticoat.

The fans in our house are circling lazily overhead -- in fact we hardly need them -- which is a big change from the airconditioning we've have to use too much in September and October. Last month's electric bill for our home of three people plus a pool was $800. Kind of like winter heating on the mainland. Talk about dependence on foreign oil!

The store is starting to get in new products for Christmas already, and we have Halloween candy on the counter for those who stop in. Can't believe another year has gone by -- and Lanikai Bath and Body is three years and counting!

Warriors Beat Fresno!

This just up on the UH website:Hawai`i Stuns No. 22 Fresno State in Overtime, 32-29
FRESNO, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i Warrior football team pulled off the improbable with a 32-29 overtime win over No. 22 Fresno State before a crowd of 40,572 Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium. Dan Kelly kicked a 33-yard field goal in the first overtime period to give Hawai`i its first-ever win versus a ranked opponent on the road.

Dan Kelly is a big hero! As we left Kailua tonight, UH was ahead by 11 points in the third quarter and when we arrived on the other side they were tied at 29 with three minutes to go.

Waikiki At Night (Without a Flash)

OKAY, I admit this is a lousy photograph -- but it was taken from a most beautiful place.

Our friends Hayley and Mike have a penthouse at the Marco Polo -- and this is the nighttime view from their lanai. The sunset is event better, but I didn't get out my camera until after dinner.

Hayley and Mike are fans of Lanikai Bath and Body -- and world travelers as well.

Bathtub Families

Bunches of very, very cute bathtub families have arrived at Lanikai Bath and Body and are now appearing in our baby section, along with the ever popular razzables, animal bath mitts, and Armoasaurus products.

The Giraffe family pictured here is just one of many bathtub families --- a perfect gift, and your little friends will love them!

Mandi Had Her Baby

Frequent visitors to Lanikai Bath and Body who have been missing Mandi -- since she has been on maternity leave -- will be glad to know she had her baby girl, pretty much on schedule, the last week of September.

Dad Ezra is an Icelander, so like older brother and first born Loki, Lanikai's first baby, a girl, has an Icelandic name, which, unfortunately, I don't know how to spell.
I think it is Frajya -- but I know it is pronounced Fray-a -- a very pretty name.

Congratulations to the new family of four and to Lanikai Bath and Body's very first baby!

P.S. Picture shown here is pre-baby. As soon as we get one of Fray-a, we'll post it!

A Favorite Makes a Comeback

Popular scented home products from Fruits & Passion, including the Hibiscus "Influence" line (part of which is pictured here) will be back at Lanikai Bath and Body in time for Christmas.

With the cost of shipping, it will be slightly more expensive than it was when we first opened, but we're sure it will be just as popular!
