Broken Hearts Cured At Lanikai Bath and Body

Why so pale and wan, fond lover?
Prithee, why so pale?
Why, when looking well can't move her,
Will looking ill prevail?
Prithee, why so pale?

Why,then,waste your time fond lover?
Why, then, waste your time?
Go,instead, and buy, fond lover
Coconut verbena lime
Do not waste your time!

Buy at Lanikai fond lover,
Buy at Lanikai.
There is where you buy, fond lover.
No longer pale fond lover.
When you buy at Lanikai.

(with apologies to John Suckling, 17th Century English poet. No joke, that was his name).

Stay Awhile .. Rest

Everyone is so busy these days -- rushing around. Many people in Hawaii have two or three jobs because they have to. Some of us are crazy enough to have two jobs because we can.

All of the modern conveniences that are supposed to be time savers only make room for us to jam more into the day. We have caller ID at home so we don't have to answer the phone -- even so, we carry a cell phone with us everywhere we go. If we don't answer it, the messages pile up. We have email on our phones. Never mind that we let our bills pile up, we have to open our emails. And answer them. Or feel guilty not answering them.

It's time for all of us to slow down. Even though the wind is blowing cool, go to Lanikai Beach and stay awhile. It is so beautiful there. We need to rest.

Love Me or Not

He loves me,
He loves me not,
He loves me,
He loves me not.

He loves me a lot!

Backyard Kailua

It's super cold on the mainland -- snowing in many places, temperatures dropping, dropping, dropping.

This picture was taken in my backyard at 4:30 this afternoon, January 26th. It has been pretty cool here in Hawaii -- but it is most habitable -- shirt sleeves are just fine, thank you very much, and people from the mainland (and lots of local folks) swim in the ocean or their pools every day.

We are lucky, luck, lucky to live Hawaii. Come and visit!

Veggie Valentine

You may not "carrot" all for me
You may "turnip" your nose
When I plead with you
But if your "heart" should "beet" with mine
Forever "lettuce" hope,
There is no reason in this world
Why we two "canteloupe"

Poems like this which are written by some one named anonymous are good clues to why vegetables have never really caught on as valentine's gifts. Flowers are quite a different story...

Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you buy me a gift from Lanikai Bath and Body that smells like a flower,
I will always love you.

P.S. fruit bouquet not available at Lanikai Bath and Body --- but everything you need to make your valentine swoon is just waiting for you to make your selection. Online at www.lanikaibathandbody.com or at our store at 767 Kailua Road.

Newly Discovered Quatrain by Ms. Browning...

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death

In the meantime while we're here on earth
How do I show you my love, what can I buy?
To show you to me how much you're worth
I'll get my gift at Lanikai!

Fantastic Flowers Make Great Valentines

It's pretty much impossible to get Gardenia for your Valentine -- unless you come to Lanikai Bath and Body. Our Tahitian Gardenia lotion, butter, scrub, wash and salt are amazingly true to the incredible scent of the real thing.

There's not a person who has tried them who doesn't agree. Brook was at the grocery store the other day and someone told her she "smelled like a lei!" She was, of course, wearing Lanikai Bath and Body's Tahitian Gardenia. It is a best selling scent, so if someone you love loves Gardenia -- our lovely lotion (and its companion products)is the perfect gift.

Naupaka is for Lovers

Naupaka is a delectable, fresh coconut lime verbena scent created for Kane (men) and Wahine (women) as part of Hawaii’s only all natural line of bath and body products, Lanikai Bath and Body.

Naupaka is also the delicate flower, half of which grows at the beach, and the other half in the mountains. Only by matching the flower from the mountain and the flower from the beach can you make a perfect, whole Naupaka. Hawaiian legend says that one of the Ali’i(Royalty) separated his beautiful daughter and her commoner lover, sending her forever to live in the mountains, and him to live at the sea. As they parted, they split the Naupaka flower ~ beautiful, delicate, never to be reunited...until now...

Lanikai Bath and Body’s tribute to the Hawaiian lovers is our unisex scent which brings them together again. The line includes conditioning shampoo, massage oil, exfoliating scrub, bath salts, lotion, body butter and body wash. Use them together -- as products and with each other. Valentine's Day is for lovers. So is Naupaka.

Opening Day

Today was opening day at the State legislature ~ an annual event not to be missed. Lucky for us, we were sitting on the floor(in chairs on the floor to be more specific), looking up at the gallery. Great people watching, great pressing-the-flesh watching, great glad-to-see-you-ha-ha smiles watching, great genuine glad-to-see you moments watching.

The place is adorned with flowers, beautiful singing by special choirs, and in the Senate Chambers, entertainment by guys from Waianae, and a wonderful wrap up by Uncle Gordon Mark, ukelele player extraordinnaire.

Our favorite legislator, Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, gave a fantastic speech, as always mentioning her dog Little (who has been gifted Lanikai Poi Dog).

Greg McMackin, just named the new UH football Warriors Coach, was sitting in front of us so we were positively on TV. Did you see us?

What does all of this have to do with Lanikai Bath and Body? For starters, it was beautiful. Second it was, naturally, Hawaiian. Third, because of all the flowers, it smelled terrific. Fourth, Aloha was everywhere. Fifth, there was plenty of warmth and good feelings.

Once again, and always, lucky we live Hawaii!

Flyin Hawaiian

Yesterday, as part of our other business, The Brand Strategy Group, we went to Maui to call on Maui Floral (www.mauifloral.com), clients who grow incredible pin cushion protea, among many beautiful upcountry flowers.

We flew on Hawaiian Air which is increasingly our favorite airline. First of all, the web experience is amazing. Very easy to navigate and book your trip, and to move to partner firms, get your car and so on. Electronic checkin is a breeze, and the lines were moving and short! On board Hawaiian the experience is -- well, Hawaiian. First of all, the flight crew welcomes you in Hawaiian. That is one of our most favorite things.

Now, Hawaiian Air is celebrated for being on time -- kicking its old nickname "Hawaiian Always Late" to the door.

Hawaiian Air lives its brand. That's terrific. We're glad to be among their customers!

Aloha is Not Enough

So today we are sending a rosemary eye pillow to UH President David McClain. He is going to need to rest his eyes after reading all the negative press about the administration and its failure to act in a timely way with the "extraordinary performance of June Jones." Not just June, but Dan Morrison, McMackin and all the others. Goners. Thanks, Herman Frazier.

Colt Brennan's warning about soap should have been seen for what it was : a tip-of-the-iceberg "tip" to the administration and especially the AD that it should take some serious steps and clean up its act. Seriously. One of our clients actually volunteered to supply the soap and soap dispensers, but it had hastily been taken care of when he made the call. Did the powers-that-be at Manoa really think that was all there was to it?

So now we have not only lost June Jones, but have further tarnished our reputation as a place that just doesn't measure up when it comes to the big time. Eye Pillows all around. We don't want to see what's coming next.

Fantastic Relaxation

At Lanikai Bath and Body, our business is about finding time for yourself and relaxingour beautiful Maiden Hawaii soaps, MEBath ice cem bath bombs, washes and buddle bath allow you to sink into oblivion ... if only for a few moments between work and dinner.

Today we took our desires for relaxation to the mat -- that is to the spa, and spent a day at the Spa at Ihilani... where we had massages, facials and pedicures, a soak in the roman pool, and a relaxing lunch by the pool. All thanks to a wonderful friend of ours whose initials are JS. Thank you JS, many, many times over, for one of the most delightful days we've had in years.

And to Ihilani -- the services , the timing , the place and the people were great.
What a way to spend a special birthday!

O...1 ...I ..E

Hats off to blogger Ryan Grice-Mullens who kept us up-to-date from his player's perspective on the stuff that happened in "Nawlins." The blog was a good read, and we loved all the pictures.

BTW there are some great photos of the Warriors' week in the photo gallery --- alot better than the endless tv replays of Georgia's get-tough-on-Hawaii routine.

You can check it out at: http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/pr.html?prid=14874&p=3 starting with Ryan's blog, and following on to the photos.

P.S. You'll have to read Ryan's Blog to figure out the header of this post. XXOO

Hawaiian Healing Salve for Colt

Aloha Warriors Fans out there ~ we are all so sorry that things didn't go better at the Super Dome. There is a reason for the phrase that someone "hangs on like a bulldog"
and that Georgia team is certainly well named. Ugh to UGA. slobbery guys that they are. (btw,at Lanikai Bath and Body we carry dog towelettes that feautre an UGA on them .. maybe we should send them to the Georgia coach).

Colt and the Warriors are still our heroes, and we want to thank them again for a wonderful season. We are going to send some of our Hawaiian Healing Salve to Colt, and we are sure that all of your good wishes and aloha for him have already been a healing salve of Hawaiian proportions.

Huge Big Incredible Aloha for the Warriors and Aloha nui au ia `oe* Colt. Ua Da Best!

* there is supposed to be a diacritical mark over the "a" in "ia" -- apologies all around.
